About

Iliad

circa 1967
The original group line-up was Bergbusch/Patriarche/Springett. The name was suggested by Bergbusch. PB

I have a home recording of a 30-minute Iliad "reunion" jam session from 1970, with Peter on rhythm guitar instead of drums, Martin on 12-string & lead vocals and Jack on bass. It includes "Summers That There Were" from Martin Springett's Lord of the Rings cycle. I can send an mp3 or wma file, 30 Mb, if you wish.

Martin Springett's LOTR songs have been performed live in Toronto and elsewhere, but were never released commercially due to lack of permission from Tolkien's trustees. Martin is now better known for his illustrations of chiildren's and fantasy books, e.g. Guy Gavriel Kay's The Fionnivar Tapestry.
